This is obviously not my area of scholarship, but I can't imagine similar folks can't be "convinced" to refrain from these practices by companies as big as Seiko or AP with little to no need to resort to litigation. Of course, the 'free market approach' is always the most transparent and effective -- should nobody buy these monstrosities in lieu of a nice, genuine Seiko they can afford, there you go that crap production will halt immediately!
