The total effect is one of making the watch case bulkier. I guess they could use the titanium "core" and restyle the outer ceramics if they wanted to -- reminds me a bit of the complex case IWC brought out with the Da Vinci tonneau model. Here's the "ceramic" version.

that ceramic/titanium combination with the screws appears a bit like a crude makeshift solution; certainly not state of the art, compared with the ceramic cases of the competitors. Marcus

The screws are so you can replace part of the case if it gets damaged. The Ceramic used is extremely tough but you cant polish out or repair.

which is why I am always amazed at how GS can consistently get chronographs so wrong. This one is no exception β truly awful.
