Many manual wind watches have that feature
fewer repairs ... of course, if you are wide awake and sober when winding, why would you over-wind it?
Even so, you can just unscrew a few screws, and fix it.

I just found out that manual winding caliber 9S has a slip mechanism to prevent overwinding the mainspring
