Landmaster vs the Sea

Nov 02, 2020,09:06 AM

We took a Monday morning stroll, but the weather was less Southern Californian, and a bit more Merry Olde England.

The fog was extremely dense, and I found myself asking "Why don't drivers of gray cars at dawn in the fog turn on their lights?!" Luckily we didn't have any incidents on the road or today's damp walking route.

This is fine for a walk, but a bit too close to salt water for living.

I prefer a few more yards of sand between me and the tides ... this is better.

We crossed over South MIssion from the bay to the ocean.

but as expected, the fog blanketed the beach there too.

As we returned to the car the sun was valiantly trying to break through

We saw this monstrous dog lumbering around the foggy park like a drunk stumbling around a nightclulb parking lot. This lady isn't his owner, but she knows his name is Gus and he's only 3 years old.

We've put in our working time: 38 years teaching PE for my wife, and about 45 years (and 3 million air miles) for me in publishing. Now we are finding excitement closer to home. Mike

Looks like a nice place to live

Where I am, a foggy morning like that will normally bring a fine, clear, sunny afternoon.

Interesting observations

I was writing a headline and wanted the contrast of Land (master) and Sea. As in SeaDweller, Sea Hawk, etc. I’ve never lived in the East; only in California, Washington and Hawaii, and always within walking distance of salt water (ocean, harbor, bay, soun...

Ah. Sorry. Poetic license. You've lived in beauful places. Can I ask what made you leave Hawaii.

It's sort of always been my grail location. Although vacationing in a place and living there are often far different.

My mother made me leave

She's the one on the left She loved Hawaii but had to leave, and because I was only 4-5 years old, she insisted that Kathy and I accompany her to California. :-( For college I came here, and in the distance you can see my dorm on the cliff There's definit...

I know what you mean about living close to the Pacific. We do Hawaii twice a year and we missed Sept.

Hope we both get back there soon. It is open but not many amenities are yet.
