....in the case and the bezel there are small differences, the biggest and most important are in their calibers: The 6306 has 21 jewels and the hacking function also known as hack or stop seconds, which is when the crown is pulled out and in a 6309 there are 17 jewels and no hacking function.

..this ref. 6306 is for the Japanese market and manufactured from 1976 to 1981. And its caliber is better than the ref. 6309 for USA and RW market. Thanks KMII!!! All the Best. Juan

I didn't know that they used to have different movements fitted for the JDM version. Unlike your 6306 vs 6309, the recent Seiko 5 and 4R3x's movements are virtually the same except for the assembly locations. Have a great Christmas & happy New Year ahead!...

I have several movements in various states of disrepair, so it was interesting for me to locate this data which another guy has put together: DIFFERENCES in 6306 6309 The extra jewels in question are in the top plate: cap jewel for upper escape wheel hole...

The guy who wrote article I referenced (years ago) had already taken the photos. I just found them, did some clean-up, then put on the annotations and arrows to make it clear. Cheers, Cazalea
