That said, I don’t get Seiko’s strategy. I have a SLA 017 which I ordered from the convention floor at Basel World immediately upon seeing it. It was billed as “THE” reissue of the 62 MAS and was limited in number. Then in the years that followed came reissue after reissue, with slight variations, including the SJE 093 which is essentially the same as the 17 but 2mm smaller.
This has completely soured me on getting sucked in to buy Seiko’s reissues which are otherwise appealing.
If they are trying to build brand exclusivity this is not the way to go about it. Panerai killed itself in much the same way.

Like you, I was quite surprised by this release.
I missed out on the SLA017 so I jumped at this opportunity! I totallly understand your frustrations. It’s similar to Blancpain with their approach of releasing multiple LE iterations of their Fifty Fathoms upsetting their customer base!🤷 HAGD!🥂
Seiko limited editions is absolute bullshit.
They will be reissued again, and again, and again... Notwithstanding, it's a very appealing watch. My SLA017 says hello ...
