I had the privilege of checking some years ago ; hands are the same you find in 6200 : " lollipop " seconds hand , " swan neck " hours hand and very long minutes hand : ...  

I knew from Philipp Stahl once that the earliest GMT 6542 had this long neck hour and and large lollipop seconds but never have seen one. Thank you so much for sharing - a pleasure to see such an early GMT master. Best Edmond

red 6542 is f...ing rare : for what I know less than two dozens made ( including also the rarest " double red " with the line of maximum depth ) .. so we can estimate the value of the single red at no less 4-5 times than a 6542 with standard dial.

wanna see more pics ??? this watch is quite different from regular production 6542 as case is thiner with very long lugs and also dial is not the very same you have in later watches : it has a sort of " half-matt " finish ( same you have in 1st series SCO...  

The length of the minute and 24hr and even the hour for that matter. You would imagine the hour and minute could be from other Rolex models so Rolex used them on the GMT but the the 24Hr must just be the early models where just super long. You some time s...

around two dozens red and double red 6542 have been produced. the total amount of steel 6542 is probably in the range of 1200-1500 if you consider that only 600 went to USA.

Something circa 2 000 in steel, and maybe less than 1000 in gold. Due to the number of 6542 delivered to the US in its production years, 605, according to Rolex itself in the ad where they ask their client to send their 6542 back to Rolex to change the in... 

What can we assume then is the nr of 6542 with Bakelite? Any numbers that you have heard of?

to promote watches with replaced inserts .. same sad thing happened years ago with early 5513 milsubs ...when a famous dealer trying to brainwash collectors with this bullshit : " early 5513 came out from Rolex with a standard insert " ( not continous ) ,...  

about milsubs another crazy fable promoted in the early 2000s was that every year the MOD begun gain from number 001 instead of giving the first free number avalaible ; so in this way every year / delivery number matching was correct !!!!

for a bit of red ink, maybe I am getting old, but Rolex idiosyncracies dont add to the extra ££££££ that people want. underline, double swiss, red writing (except DRSD/Red sub), you can keep them just my opinion!!!! Best Imran

While I agree that the Red (Single and Double) 6542 GMTs are great, the one you pictured here is a fake. Its a "Yuki" (or similar) version of the real thing. I've attached pics of the Yuki 6542 GMT dial, which oddly is no longer for sale on their website ...
