When Tudor launched the black bay in 2012 it pricked my interest in the brand having never really being a Tudor fan over the last 35 years of collecting.
I was a few years late coming to the party and bought my first Tudor the 79220n. I loved this watch and wore it often and loved its modern approach to a vintage problem.
With all the benefits of a modern watch with a node back to its history. The ETA movement and rose logo dial with the Smiley script all appealed to my taste.
Roll on nearly a decade and my interest in Tudor has continued. The timing for me was probably good as this was at a time when Rolex and Patek started to become so difficult to obtain. I was made to feel like I should be gifting my kidneys or some other vital organ to my AD as a thank you for the several hundred thousand pounds I’d spent with them. The feel with Tudor was completely different and reminded me of how it once was with both of my favourite watch houses.
It has taken me until now to find the original line up which I always wanted to do.
Future collectable or just great watches? Either way I really enjoy wearing these 79220’s
So here are my 79220r, 79220b and 79220n. Funny how they came to me in reverse order to how they were launched.
These watches ground me and remind me that you don’t have to wear the latest hyped watch to get a great deal of satisfaction on your wrist.
Happy Friday Amigos and hope you all have a great weekend.
