the old estimate of ...
just 200 " oyster " and 1000 " non-oyster " dials ( made at the end of the 90s ) should have to be updated , considering also that now we know the amount of manual winding daytonas produced in steel and gold from 1963 to 1988 circa ( that is certainly much bigger than we expected ..... ).
so my present estimate ( dials for gold included ) is roughly :
1) around 800 " oyster "
2) around 2.000 " non oyster ".
3) within this number the amount of dials for gold is in the range of 5 - 10 %.
if you consider also dials produced but not fixed to watches ( kept as spare parts in Geneva ) ... maybe the grand total is in the 3.500 range.
Wonderful post!
