The 6610 always comes with a Swiss dial, which is not the case on the 1016. The 6610 has a lollipop second hand. The case is a bit smaller on the 6610 ( 1 mm less, but I have to check ). The movement of the 6610 is not hacking, while, on the 1016, it is h... 

..1016 was improved with a hacking seconds and other features perhaps. So we can say 6610 is even rarer than 1016 but do you prefer the 1016 over the 6610?

Indeed, it is much rarer than a 1016, as it was produced for a very few years ( circa 3, maybe 4 years ), while the 1016 was in production for at least 20 years, but I don't care about rarity. Yuo can find a very nice 1016 and an ugly 6610, though. It is ...

..Subs, YMs, GMTs, and even Datejust, the Explorer I has enjoyed a low-key success and not much of a mass appeal IMO... it takes a few to appreciate the beautiful simplicity of it... especially the vintage Explorers, and comparing to vintage Subs, one get...
