Yours is an interesting question because I have thin wrists and generally prefer smaller watches than most people do today. The short answer is that this model was available and I liked it, and I didn’t feel like waiting for a 36 mm to become available. But there are three basic reasons I didn’t agitate further about that choice:
1. I prefer the simpler layout of the dial on the 39 mm; I’m not drawn to the 36’s double-batons at 3, 6, and 9 or the little numbers on the racing track.
2. The 39 mm doesn’t wear too large, given the absence of the maxi-dial and the curved lugs.
3. Much as I like my watches when I buy them, I don’t always keep them, and the 39 mm will likely be easier to sell than a smaller watch.
Hope this helps!

Just picked up this tribute to elegant simplicity. More to come when I can find my macro lens ... ...
Very sweet!

that wonderful photo of yours alerted me to the existence of this model (had never seen it before) and prompted me to buy it. So I owe this to you, thanks!
Wow.

Feel very honored to hear that. Glad you like it as well. 👍 I also have a black one. But I give preference to the white one.

... this is actually the sixth Rolex I've bought, but I ended up selling four of the other five. So I've started over with Rolex several times, but I'm planning to make this one a long-term keeper.
Mine will arrive on Tuesday!

Two Rolex purchases in less than a year. I may have finally achieved my perfect three — the Submariner, the OP 39, and the Omega CK 2998 (Blue).
Go for it!
