I think all of us have fallen foul of each of these rules in our vintage watch buying life.
I often thought that the problem with vintage watches was that the barrier to entry, the knowledge required to aquire them
safely, was a big problem.
However I think now that this is intrinsic to the vintage watch collecting experience. Developing the knowledge to aquire the watch is part and parcel
of why we collect them.
After all taking a helicopter to the top of the mountain is not the same as climbing it!

Useful suggestions
I would put in the same positions # 1 and 2, the watch should turn you on but in the same moment you should judge the seller too. Helpful for those who are approaching this passion but also not to be forgotten by experienced people.
