100% agree with you regarding this....
""Buy the seller", what I mean by that is to know who the seller is, and to trust them. To get that confidence, you may know them for a time or maybe someone who you trust knows them for a long time...and knows them to be good"
There are great expert amongs us here which i can really rely on. You are one of them joe. The others you know who im talking about ; ).

......I will let others answer the "Buy the seller" idea. I would stick by that one....still. Some sellers are not just interested in selling....that is particularly true for collectors. Also, an experienced collector will give you a very good idea on how...

Thanks Baron - thats very helpful and could have been written just for me. Impatience is one thing I suffer from the most. I get an idea in my head and then off I go!! I also sometimes think I'm too fussy, although I'm not sure that is really a fault. Wit...

I think all of us have fallen foul of each of these rules in our vintage watch buying life. I often thought that the problem with vintage watches was that the barrier to entry, the knowledge required to aquire them safely, was a big problem. However I thi...

Baron - Thanks so much for your post - it's a great outline of easy steps for beginners - which I certainly am at this point. How about future posts that go into more details for more seasoned collectors? How about ranking / rating sellers or retailers? T...
Its a good idea...

....but I would say that most of the rules are exactly the same. Maybe the number of questions one asks gets less, but the process is almost identical. Check out the post I just sent out about the 5512 I purchased. It still involved essentially all of the...

This is exactly my point. The world of vintage is so complex that it is so important to maintain humility. This refers to originality of a watch, its variations, its value, etc etc. One never reaches the end of the knowledge journey with vintage Rolex. So...
