This is what I was trying to articulate, but also to add that Rolex the brand has influenced that appeal too.
There’s a level of satisfaction that numerous (objectively) better watches cannot match.

The 16520 is one of the best Daytonas without doubt. M.
The 16520 started it all for me.
Although my 6263 is my favourite Rolex the 16520 has a very special place in my heart. Although I’ve never really been a black dial fan I do wish I’d kept some of the black dial 16520’s I’ve owned. Such a very cool watch. Enjoy your beauty. M.
While values differ greatly, I don’t think any other Daytona would give me the same level of satisfaction.
