Although at a technical level I am impressed that Rolex have made a gold watch that can withstand the stated depth, plus at least 25%. Albeit with an inner case inside the gold outer case. I would have thought that gold would be far too soft for anywhere ...
“I don’t care what you think of me” watch. So in that sense it’s a “confidence watch.” The Smurf type dial works on this watch and it would not be nearly as nice with a metallic sunray dial.
Rolex know what they are doing and who to aim their products at. It’s just that this one isn’t for me or the work/social scenarios that I find myself in. But that’s fine. The right person will love this watch I’m sure.
guy ( or even badass gal!) They know what they’re doing. I bet whoever buys this watch doesn’t get too close to the water (except on their yachts!) let alone dive.
Need a really strong wrist to carry 44mm deep sea in solid gold. BTW, I am surprised to find those Rolex sports watches displayed in AD are for sale. As in my home town, all these are still for display only….. Cheers, Henry
It may well have been an exhibition piece but the sales assistant told me that a group of tourists came in and bought a load of watches. I imagine that if they bought enough this watch would also have become available for sale!
