New Summer And Vacation Watch: Oysterflex Daytona

Hi friends! I just received this beauty today. It's a Rolex Daytona on Oysterflex that was introduced a few years ago. This is my only watch on a rubber strap, which is great for the summer and trips to the beach/pool, etc. I have the previous generation Daytona (116520) in steel on the bracelet, so I can always slap that on for a more polished look. I find the dial on this watch to be one of the most interesting and dynamic dials on any watch I've seen. Perhaps only second to the F.P. Journe Chronometre Bleu dial. It has a sunburst/metallic stainless steel-looking dial that goes from light silver to dark graphite depending on the light. I also find the contrasting sundials that match the ceramic bezel to be a bolder look than the typical Daytona that only has contrasting sundial-rings.

The OysterFlex is extraordinarily comfortable but is notorious for being difficult to install correctly due to the tight tolerances. Many folks have reported having their lugs scratched or chipped because of this. I actually bought this exact watch almost a year ago, but either the AD or the Rolex Service Center chipped two of the lugs on the top/visible side. After not being able to come to a great resolution, I ended up selling the watch as I was fed up with the whole situation, and it didn't feel good wearing the watch knowing how much of a headache trying to remedy the situation was.

Fast forward to recently, another AD I've been in contact with finally received another watch, so I crossed my fingers and took the jump. They did a great job installing the right sized straps with no issues, and I'm happy I can finally enjoy the watch. I hope you all enjoy the write-up and photo!
