Rolex

about 3 years ago i purchased my first ever Rolex, a 1964 1002 non date oyster and found it a bit small at 34mm, but it, along with many other people here, taught me to appreciate Rolex as a brand i should be adding to my theme. in the last 2 weeks i have...  

It looks great, has the ghosty gray look which is fantastic and rivet is the perfect companion to the whole package, it looks better without a gilt dial, wear her in health. S

i forgot to say that it came in a green rolex pouch. he forgot to send the 2 extra bracelet links, but they are coming soon. its on my wrist and there is no way that the bezel insert is going to be changed, i love it. best Graham

thanks my friend, im a happy bunny even though its not a gilt dial. i sort of agree with Salman that it looks better with the white text. im puzzled by the bezel. ive unclipped it and oiled underneath despite it being spotless, but i still cant turn it...

maybe i will. i cant think of many other brands still to get. i have also seen a beautiful tropicalised 5513 from 64 which looks stunning with patina to die for. i could live with 2 of them i have my eyes on a grand seiko chronometer. they are not easy to...

thanks Tim, the advantage with Rolex is that there is no need to redo a dial, they just replace them whether you like it or not im very pleased with it despite the fact that i cant turn the bezel even after taking it off and oiling it. looking at the dia...  

Hi Graham, you have a matt metres first dial .They were made for a short time estimated to be between '66-'68. So whilst it may have been redialled later say in the seventies, the dial was manufactured between 66-68, Cheers,dreamer

hi Dreamer, thats really interesting, such a small window of manufacture. its possible that it was redialled very early on, perhaps even at the first service. i can imagine a Rolex service watchmaker thinking, weve got these new improved dials so ill c...

The 5513 is a fantastic tool watch and the rivet bracelet speaks volumes for its heritage. Regards Tony

You are on a roll with so many new pieces. My '66 5513 's non gilt dial looks very similar to yours except mine has a slight greenish tinge to the tritium whereas yours is vanilla. Did you have the rivet bracelet sized for you ? Is it a swiss made 7206 br...
