Hello Graham! That´s a great story...
... and this type of stories is what makes for the attraction and enjoyment of our vintage watches.
I´m not very knowledgeable about this particular Rolex reference 1655, but I feel this one you show is of the first series, as per the straight seconds hands.
As you may have read, Nicolas superb old post here, which was resucited a few days ago, has changed my view on this model, and fired my interest in finding one for my own collection. I´m sure a copy will be found soon.
