Exactly..

This extra layer kills the sense of occasion that one usually reserves for a Patek or a Rolex. Lots of people want to buy a Patek or Rolex brand new ( as opposed to other brands) with all the ceremony that only a boutique experience can offer. I think they are potentially turning off a lot of would be first time buyers. I'm not sure though that I'd want to raise the price at AD level but I do think they can pump a bit more in the supply side without affecting desireability. Think about it, they weren't exactly doing badly in the prestige and desireability department before this madness started. The demand is such that it can be partly satiated (not 100%.. that would be unwise) by a few more pieces in the production line just keep the fire and hope going.

After having had my lunch, I walked to the Rolex boutique to see if I am lucky enough to see some nice pieces, be it OP39, or 36mm DJ or the has been elusive Sports models, but only able to capture this. šŸ˜… Nicolas, u better hold on tightly to your Air Kin...

Maybe bankrupt? :))) I feel lucky to be able to enjoy my Air King.

Some wrist time soon! Best, Nicolas ...

Thereā€™s so many on display in Singapore.

Mostly non-sports.

Air King, too? [nt]

 By: amanico : July 5th, 2019-02:37

Definitely no Air King from AD in Singapore.

I was lucky to get 1 from Grey market dealer 1 month ago, below retail price.

Bankrupt? Haha thatā€™s the last thing that could happen

I tried ordering a Milgauss last week from the biggest retailer of Rolex in Switzerland...

 By: agyzace : July 5th, 2019-08:14
The answer was they don't take orders on this extraordinary watch as it is sold out for many years to come... I think Rolex has lost the plot. I am sure lots of watch collectors focus on other brands while they sort out their grey market sales channel app...

Milgauss????

 By: Lankysudanese : July 5th, 2019-10:51
There is a waiting list on Milgaussā€™ now? What has this world gotten to?

Indeed... I am curious to see the conclusion of this phase of Rolex.

 By: agyzace : July 5th, 2019-12:43
I am convinced it does not bring increased sales, neither brand kudos. Letā€™s see what happens to their ss modelsā€™ prices when normal distribution will become reality again - some day. In the meantime, we can enhance our collections with other manufacturer...

Agree my friend. Letā€™s see how this plays out this time

Have a great weekend, Alex

Absolutely

ā€œwe can enhance our collections with other manufacturersā€™ offerings and complicationsā€ I say we CAN and we SHOULD

+1. [nt]

Thing is a milgauss is probably available if one doesn't mind buying from a reseller

 By: LS : July 5th, 2019-16:42
Buying a Rolex now has all the charm of buying an event ticket from a ticket scalper. I think with this strategy, Rolex inadvertently just created an extra layer of unofficial middlemen in their distribution network. If they had wanted to limit the supply...

Very well said. [nt]

Millgaus available at AD's in the US. Crazy to think it's hard to get there. Best of luck!

I am sure it is the case.

 By: agyzace : July 6th, 2019-21:57
This is why I know the response is not genuine, but part of a not healthy or ethical approach to sales. It is really sad, but what can one do? šŸ˜Š

As for Tudor it may be facing the same supply conundrum

 By: KC74 : July 6th, 2019-00:59
For their popular BB models, waiting time can be up to 6 to 9 monthsšŸ˜² You would have to place your name and patiently wait...šŸ˜“...

Thatā€™s what the Tudor lady told me yesterday

 By: KC74 : July 6th, 2019-03:30
Another AD I spoke to about 2 months ago informed it may take 3 months but no promises. Cos there were 5 buyers on waiting list. You must grab it if itā€™s there now in Paris cos it may be acquired very soon I think. This shortage of 58 may just be happenin...

How can you say no to this one?

I had just read an article written

 By: KC74 : July 7th, 2019-22:41
By a pilot himself who wears the Air King and his explanation on why it was designed in such a way. Very informative and a good read šŸ‘šŸ» It is a watch which grows on you over time.
