Credit for reliability and dependability
This is a terrific watch, of course. Rolex makes very durable watches that continue to not only hold value but often increase - as this model certainly has. BUT, the miracle of this watch, from the watchmaking standpoint, is the Valjoux 72. This movement was ubiquitous and appeared in MANY other chronographs of that time - many of which were modest watches, and don't have the value-added imprimatur of the Rolex name. So this fine example of a watch and it's enduring accuracy is a testament to the durable and excellent Valjoux 72, and (more than likely) excellent and ongoing service to that movement over the past 50 years. Enjoy it!!

The peculiarity
is that the indexes, except the crown, instead of being riveted are electro-welded. To my knowledge it only existed on the 6238/6239 and lasted a short time but I do not know for what reason.
