Buy gold...
I've got a friend who wears a gold rolex datejust that's probably 30 years old, anyway, he says if you're gonna buy a watch, buy a solid gold one, because if you ever need to eat or a bed to sleep in and you need to hock or sell it, the "guts" (movement) is worthless, but the solid gold casing (and bracelet, unless you have a leather strap) can be weighed and you should get the value of the going price of gold. SS and SS & gold are worthless, pawn dealers don't like to separate the gold links and parts from the SS, too hard (but it can be done). That kind of puts things in perspective as far as this silly watch stuff, eh?
