Both bracelets are perfectly fine.
Period correct or not, whichever one feels best to you. I like the weight of the 78360 as it matches well the weight of the head. But the originality of the 7836 is undeniable.
But as you noted, the 7836 bracelet needs to be professionally resized.
You will also note in the last picture below that the two bracelets have different end links, so I assume he has both.
