That would make more sense. Especially considering that each batch won't come out exactly the same due to different tool settings, etc.
It's good info for the watchmakers to know from which batch each parts comes from.

I noticed other brands using different prefix in the end of the reference to indicate different batches.

E.g. 0000 AA, 0000 AB, 0000 AC....
