Does it bother you that RD often uses “mismatched” handset? The hour hand is pear or spade shaped while the minute hand is plume shaped. This has always irked me a little bit about RD.

I have not seen this reference before, and it’s interesting to note something more restrained than the Sympathie or Golden Square that would come later, though still when the master himself remained involved. Thanks for sharing this!

But, to be honest, I just treat it as the “price of entry” at this point: as you say, he did this a lot and the elongated syringe end to both hands gives it a coherence that would otherwise be missing - so I think it works overall (even if it could be don...
