I have several Pateks which to me go well with formal wear.
All of them are white gold. I have had experiences similar
to your, and nobody has ever mentioned any of my Pateks.
Pateks tend to go under the radar much of the time, and
I actually prefer not attracting much attention.
But, my RM010 has been noticed several times, and each time
the person noticing it said they really liked the look of
the watch and wanted to know more about it.
I'm not surprised you have had no problems with your RM005,
since it was one of the last ones made. Most likely by
the time yours was made all the major problems had been
discovered and corrected. My RM010 has been excellent, with
not a single problem.

That comment has me scratching my head. RM005 and RM010 do not even remotely seem like watches I'd wear with formal clothes. In fact, they would probably be my last pick for formal wear. Eric von Schonberg

..No problems with my 10, and I have to disagree a little with you Eric, I think the RM10 on a quality band in white gold is a very nice watch to go with formal wear. Ok its not going to look as subtle & 'dressy' say a s a Patek, but it will look very fas...

I think that the RM 005 looks great while wearing a nice suit. I have worn it to several events, and everytime I have worn it, I have received compliments on the watch. I had a yg patek a few years ago, that come to think of ,I never received any comments...

Remember everyone has different tastes
What I think is a great watch for formal wear will be different than yours Having said that, I think any RM would be great with a suit or tuxedo. People still wear black plastic quartz IronMan watches with suits/tuxedos, so to each his own. Cheers, Anthon...
