Hi Guys, I would like to enquire about this particular RM model. What makes it so special. I do understand it is a split second (same as double split), but how 'advance' and 'purist' is it. Compared to many split seconds out there, i.e, Lange Double Split... 

the 004 is as fine as it gets when we talk split second function i had a 004 once and i can speak for myself when i say it was the best watch i ever had plain and simple if your thinking of getting one i would highly recommend it plus its very unique and ...

Hi, I do agree that this particular RM004 is a technical and amazing feat, considering workmanship required. However, what really I was asking is that, what makes it so different from the other split seconds out there. I am not interested in talking about... 

I believe everything has been said about this stunning watch both inside and out esthetically and mechanically but I consider this to be a highly collectable RM which is now discontinued. Rumor has it that RM was making little or no money on this model so... 

....since various texts of mine seem to have been dusted off ;-0) A split seconds chronograph - of whatever brand by the way - is considered by watchmakers in the category of a complication; it is much more complex than one might at first glance imagine, ... 

I am just curious since we are on the topic of the RM004s...I wonder how many exist in the world? Not sure who has the knowledge of this outside of the company or at the very least a rough idea?! My guess would be 100 to 200 pieces?! Any ideas guys?

Hello, Like many brands, it is not our policy to disclose sales numbers of any model; however I was watching this project from its inception at APR&P and my guess - and only a guess, mind you - is that the number is way under 200, with about 10 protot... 

The fact that there are so few in existence (130 estimated) already makes it highly collectible, but consider this ... There are essentially two lines of RM watches: A - The ones like RM002, RM003, RM004 which are made by R&P and have very limited pro...

I often wonder about regarding splits and regular chrono's: do people really use their chronograph watches in some really practical manner? Or do they simply take pleasure in owning such marvels? Theodore

Most limited editions are limited in the sense that there is only one particular case made, but there may be lots of limited editions all with the same movement. In the case of the RM004v2, it's 130 total of the same movement! Eric von Schonberg

For me , I'd rather choose to simply take pleasure of the watch & see the movement . not playing with it. because , when something wrong with the chrono , i mean the split seconds. it would be a trouble & have to wait send in to service center for... 

At least me, I love to use my chronographs (simple or double, it doesn´t matter) and I know how difficult it is to make a really good one. Therefore I love the best ones :-) Ciao, Oliver
