Richard Mille

Extraordinary timepiece...

I must applaud Richard Mille's efforts to design a timpiece beyond any current notions of a diving watch. Would also like to see if the bezel could have a DLC matte coat (a special edition perhaps?).

My biggest surprise from a practicality standpoint - is that it is a manual winding timepiece. Sure, it is probably one of finest movements that have been developed, but the potential for extraordinary wear of the crown's seals associated with winding every three days, would limit its use as a diving watch. Yes, the need for a chronograph or a tourbillon or one made in 18k red gold are equally extraneous for a diving watch, but I can't think of many other diving watches that are manual winding, which I understand is due to these waterproofing issues.

However, practicality aside - it is one darn fine watch, that will find its way to several very lucky owners! Perhaps the movement of the tourbillon alone underwater will help attract those ultrarare and desirable aquatic species to the diver...
