A watch that immediately breaks upon its arrival can be
prevented, if not 100% of the time, practically 100% of
the time. Outside of shipping issues that can be addressed
with sufficient padding, sufficient testing should prevent
cases where the watch immediately fails.
Having said that, I would not expect Richard Mille can prevent
100% of failures after a short time like 1 week, but even
there, testing should prevent a large percentage of them.
The longer time that goes by, the less chance of being able
to prevent every failure during that period. And, yes, eventually
every watch will fail and need some form of service.
