Inspired by descartes1 recent post of some (in my opinion) fantastic street photography that really captures what I feel and see on the ground when in Tokyo I thought I'd add some photos of my own. Some girls waiting to cross a street close to Aoyama. Wai...

Thanks for sharing....

These are very nice street shots. May I ask which camera did you use and the lens? Do you take B&W for street? Your last photo can be very interesting in B&W /W72

Leica Q. I've found anything larger tends to get left behind after the novelty wears off.

Especially if one is just out for the day and may take some pictures as opposed to specifically out to take pictures. I don't think I've ever specifically set up for B&W. Something to try in addition to negative exposure.

I think I know what you mean about the airport lounge feeling

the mix of anticipation, excitement, wonder and nervousness when you go on a long haul flight...

Kyoto Taxi, you got it... my kind of photo

I enjoy your composition and choice of subject... good eye ! Love the last photo of the らめん shop... It all starts from a good broth - I have a few favorite locations ; )

Thank you.

I have this image in my mind of a similar shot at night in a Tokyo taxi and try as I may I've not managed to match what's in my mind with a real photo. I will keep trying.

I agree about the lounge image

You have a few things going on here. There’s the centered “path” that leads you to the window into the image. At the end of that path is the window which is open to the tarmac. That is also open to the control tower in the distance. Again, bringing your e...

It is a cool lounge. [nt]

I enjoyed seeing these!

My favorites are....

Shinjuku station and Jingumae, both for their unique framing and composition, I always enjoy off-kilter images . The lounge is definitely higjly appealing from a more traditional perspective and the back seat of the cab is densely atmospheric . Cheers, Fi...

I like your style of photography!

Superb images coming from the Q. A fast focusing, ideal for the street camera. I thought 28mm might be a bit wide for street photography but your compositions make it all the more interesting by offering more of the background scenery. Well done! The wide...

I'm still very hesitant on the street, especially with people.

I think I miss a lot of good shots through pure hesitation. But you're absolutely right, one needs to get up close.

Great job, Jay.

You really show us what the Q can do.

Thanks Padj.

I'd add that I'm definitely not getting as much out of it as I should. I just don't use it enough.

Those first few shots...

I hope you can make it happen...

...one of the truly great cities/countries of the world....culture, civility, safety, food, people...hard to beat anywhere on earth and I’ve traveled a bit.

Lovely series [nt]
