.....greater contrast works well in mono ......texture of the clouds much richer ....angle of the pier adds more dimension This type of picture is so much up my street. Wonderful.

I shot them in camera Acros R mode to get the "dark' look. . In normal colour postcard sent to Mum it would look like this: ...

Though both leads the eyes in, just that I find that number does it better for me.

just from the fact that most people are bothered by it. I would dodge and burn the sky a bit more though.

I will do that when I get home. All photos whilst on the road are viewed and sent via phone sooc. I hope they are decent enough to share here. With a bit of pp I can see the potential in #2. Thanks!

I prefer the light posts converging as they make their way towards the background. If you could only get Free Willy to jump over the walkway then you'd really be on to something!

because of the horizon, boats, and better angle on the pier. As well I like the tones of the second photo. Balanced against the composition of the lamp posts, the second is preferred overall. Casey

The pier and the horizon with the boats in the background. A cleaner picture overall. The first is a bit more contrasty and thus more pronounced on the screen. When I’m looking at it on a small screen, it’s not really clear to me yet. Thanks Casey!
