Looks like an interesting place to explore. I was surprised with the references to crocos there! I had read some long time ago that nimes was the place...

 

... where light canvas type fabric was exported during the XIX Century to America to make the working pants for miners and cowboys. 

The fabric was called in those times as "fabric De Nimes" (fabric from Nimes) and then it derived in "Denim" the other popular name blue jeans fabric is known today.

I would love to visit this place!
