and having recently shot with ND Grad filters, that might be another choice.
You might have some success with exposing for the trees and recovering the foreground in post... or using a PL filter to darken the sky.
As an alternative you could convert to B&W and play with the white balance... plus work with the crop.
All in all, I like the shot as it is (maybe with slight tweaking). It looks like you got your shadow in the photo and the highlighted 'grass' in the foreground is a nice touch....
Get the trees right and work from there... Beautiful autumn feeling
