is a very interesting topic... one might be tempted to say that artistic intention with no technique will fail, but we have all seen examples where that is not the case ;-).
Obviously whenever you build something you require some type of structure. I guess the question you raise is which is more important. I am inclined toward the duality of things, but if I had to choose I prefer strategic over tactical... not to say I don't enjoy getting out in the field.
I agree that there are many techniques that don't add much to the betterment of things, but I think that part of the "challenge their technique approach", is to actually try it and see if it works for me. Will I now use this technique? Most likely very infrequently if at all... but I don't think that my time was wasted...
I also like the G-P Evo, but I have a preference for watches with white dials.
