There is Fort Point in the Presidio and also Fort Ross.
Also Alcatraz was used as a fort before they built a prison on the island.
These are great. It’s so different to see European Cities with such history and a FORTRESS compared to most North American locales.
And on the West Coast we never built fortresses just surf shacks …lol

Yup. I think I read there is something like 1000 fortresses and walled cities in Europe.
I guess due to all history of marauders and conquests throughout the ages.
