Looking Up Are Things
A beautiful day both on ground and in the sky. I was looking up most of the day… first at this enormous cactus in San Diego’s Old Town state park.

Come along and I’ll show you why looking up pays off.

I love the light coming through the tree, and then I heard a chirp. From above. On my left.

Yep, there he is.

Another one in the tree across the plaza. Beautifully camouflaged but I caught him in half-light, on the right.

There he goes.

Not really. He came right back.

We looked at some other trees.

Saw the moon while looking at flags,

and then another marvelous tree!

And yet another.

Speaking of crazy trees, look at this tall pine with kinks in the trunk. The pigeons are looking at it.

Yes, they are, because in that tree sits danger to pigeons...

I didn’t see him the first time, but my wife did. The camera did too.

Closer to us was a flowering tree and a butterfly caught my attention. It took about 10 photos to catch it still and posing for the camera.

While chasing the butterfly I ran across another hummingbird, sitting in the shade in the middle of the tree.

and a giant bumble bee.

Driving home, looking up, we spotted an Osprey (not the Navy kind but the fish-catching kind.
Closeup of a different Osprey last year. NOT a bird to mess around with.
Thanks for coming along. I hope things are looking up in your life too.
