In case you could not sleep....

....because you were waiting for me to solve my first-world problems, here is an update on my search for the perfect PP:

- went to an AD and tried a 5196P. It may sound silly but it felt like a toy watch. I could not stand the glare of the platinum, the dial made me feel dizzy (too much going on, too many shades and colours), the bezel is too simplistic and the overall design of the watch too angular(!). It somehow doesn't reflect light. Tried a 5196G at another dealer - same.

- It may sound strange but the 5107 seems to have better proportions (!) than the 5196 (whose bezel/dial ratio is unbalanced). Interestingly S/H prices on par with 5196. Earmarked for later (in RG).

- Accepted the fact that rose gold is currently in high demand and RG watched are more or less unavailable on the pre-owned market here.

- Tried both 5110G and 5146G at another (vintage) dealer. Now the big conundrum - the 5110 is "cool" and "unique", "one of a kind", "notable", "Agnelli had one" - the 5146 is "a proper watch", "one size fits all", "large enough to be relevant a few years down the line".

There we are.
