We all have our past and thus our subjectivity. If the 5196P looked wrong to you, then you're right to move on. Maybe that in several months you'll change your mind.
The 5107 looks warmer (dial color, bezel rounder and smoother) whereas the 5196 is a several shades of grey model with a different bezel (thinner).
You seem to have several references you may like and I would suggest you let the time choosing
I'm sure that when you'll see "the one", you'll know it.

I have to disagree
I love the Patek 5196P. Quintessential Patek Philippe dial. Love the heft that platinum brings to a timepiece.

I disagree to your disagreement. While the heft is there, the 5196P's "airy" and "playful" (Breguet numbers) design do not play along with it. I think the 5107 would be much better in P, because of its burly, baby pitbull look.
IMHO
The 5110 and the 5196p are the most beautiful of the ones you mention, and true grails. A Patek world timer is quintessential Patek. The 5196p is in a true connoisseur piece in the holiest metal. Both are grail pieces in my opinion and a highlight of most...
