Question on box and papers
Just curious how much value does everyone put on the importance of a “collectible” watch have accompanying papers and original box? For a Patek, will an Extract from the Archives provide as much comfort in the authenticity of the watch as a Certificate of Origin? For me, the most important aspect is the overall condition of the watch, followed by the certificate of origin and then the box. Some people get hung up on making sure they have a full kit, but curious to hear others opinions.

I pref to have a full set with all my watches .
With some older models its sometimes difficult to buy a full set but if the watch comes with papers or certificate then i will try to hunt for a original box afterwards.
You buy the seller!
Lack of papers, box etc would usually make me question the provenance However if it’s coming from a very reliable source and a piece I can’t get anywhere, would consider it

For me it give the sign a pre owner handled a watch with care. Buying a watch without papers and box is sometimes cheaper, and feels a watch wanted in a hurry. Only if a watch is rare and unique and took years to find is an exception.
