The new moon gave me the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of these old style moon phase on these two models that I particularly appreciate… The idea is not to compare them to say which one I / you prefer but just to enjoy two beautiful moon phase indicator...  

And world time I love, I had, but I had to let go for financing other grails in spite of my love for them 🤷‍♂️

Although I'm leaning even more towards the 3448 here because of the clarity and design-wise tidiness of the dial. All the best Thomas

I don’t consider them as redundant but complementary : one is PC the other is PC chrono, one is yellow gold the other rose gold, one is 50 years old the other 20 only, one is vintage classy dress watch the other sport chic classy… you can continue the lis... 

Cases are sensually designed & the dial layouts are close to perfection! I just wish PP goes back to its original design codes but we all kinda know that’s too much to ask in modern Patek ! Best, mahesh., ...

In the early years of 3970/5020 the G and P had yellow/blue moon discs, then Patek ( IMHO unfortunately) went with the more modern look of black/silver. So it surprised and delighted me that the 3rd and last dial version of5496P went back to yellow./ blue...  

I like 5496P a lot, in particular the version with honey-gold dial. Best, V.

And yes you are right the color combination gives a touch of vintage look, I like it also 👍

The full moon is indeed a good way to enjoy these watches. It was a full Wolf Moon. Don't ask me what the Wolf part means.

It's thought that January's full Moon came to be known as the Wolf Moon because wolves were more likely to be heard howling at this time. It was traditionally believed that wolves howled due to hunger during winter, but we know today that wolves howl for ...

I am so glad that I took the decision some years ago to actually implement the « less is more » motto and consolidate my collection on few of my dream pieces and the Wonder Watch was on the top of the list 😉

I cross fingers for your quest. As you say « if there is such a thing » which is highly improbable 😉 but 3970P will definitely be a grail
