I think the point of these message boards is to find common ground for an otherwise entirely "conspicuous" and superfluous hobby. Patek's happen to be expensive, yes. they also happen to represent the apex of collecting (IMO). I'm honestly surprised at the list of responses. I for one thought perhaps most of the ages would be in their 50's and 60's lol. I don't think there is anything wrong with this post, and radone, I don't think you need to defend yourself at all. I'm in a similar boat in terms of business success...I think we're all a self selected bunch. In any case, I am interested in seeing other's collections...the most expensive and the most expansive. perhaps we should ask the OP to start a thread? seems other threads have less traction than this one anyway. my .02

seriously I think that the world time is or should be the signature model for Patek. I know its not advertised as much as the nautilus or the 5960, but it should be the icon for patek.

It was a 5711 1/A which I upgraded it to a 5980. Then I bought a 5109 R, a 1578J and a 5070G, all these by 38 which is my age now. My first and only Lange was at 33, a beautiful Grosse Langematik in rose gold. Sadly, nothing planned for 2014. R

I was 37, first PP was the 5711 Nautilus.
I never thought I would be able to afford this watch, but a trade with a PAM127 made this dream come true. I don't own the 5711 any longer. But still have a decent collection of PPs none the less. Heavy on the Nautili.
