I have also seen a few of these 5960 in Singapore and Jakarta.

It doesn't detract from it's beauty though.

Oversupply of 5960's?

 By: ticktocktimesup : June 3rd, 2011-01:33
I have noticed recently that 5960's are popping up in store windows everywhere. Was in London this week and have seen 5x 5960 in store windows (all the versions of the 5960, so the gold and both the platinums) and I am sure that I missed some Patek retail...

Demand / Supply

 By: justindependent : June 3rd, 2011-01:47
What is oversupply? Its hard to know. Its normal that shops or countries have inventory. Certainly the recent price increase dont help. But in the end there is not a lot of PP's out there and I dont worry about it. Sepcific to the 5960 and the 5205, I hav...

same in dubai , Milan etc 5960 in all the stores.................saw 4 in Dubai alone. I struggled to sell my 5960p and wondered why ? Easily available............ Perhaps one day when production stops , demand will catch supply.......................i th...

was the market ever short 5960s?

 By: Hororgasm : June 3rd, 2011-07:52
i was able to get from greys and ADs for most of 2007-2011. in fact i got mine in 09, and the shop had both RG and Plat to choose from. even now, in my market, there are at least 4 x 5070s sealed, amongst others, especially Nautilus series, for consumptio...

Nothing new

My experience is that 5960 has been sitttimg in AD cases for quite a while now, long before last price increase which did not help. Not sure if that means oversupply, but certainly adequate supply.

The Idea of the 5960 was to make more chronos than ever before

 By: Mostel : June 4th, 2011-13:33
That was a big part of the in house automatic... really, after the introduction, 5960's have been relatively abundant and available for generous discounts from ADs.

Trickle down....

They are on their way to where PP proliferates and leads: The gray market. Just the usual.

Hope so

Well, in the window today

in UK the premium vs the 2nd hand market price is £16k GBP, so it will stay in the window as far as I'm concerned... gh

Things may be very good in certain

markets but certainly not all, with exchange rates, metal prices, etc. playing havoc on retail prices, it is no wonder that there is inventory sitting. Realistically, how many people are wetting their pants to spend this type of money on this kind of prod...

I was in London 2 months ago

 By: P@trick@Belgium : June 4th, 2011-07:51
and indeed during my stroll around the city I allready counted 3 PP 5960P's, which for me was rather extraordinary cause my AD here in Belgium had to wait till the end of this year before he got one and I know he even has a good relationship with PP, I wa...

....saw a 5960 the other day at a watch event...

 By: johnswatch1 : June 4th, 2011-09:21
My wife was admiring the Pateks int he diplay case but reserved the 'urgh' comment for the 5960. I think it's a polarising watch and the prices have now lead Patek into la-la land. Not for me.

London was and is one capitol of capital: 5960 in abundance makes sense...

By: COUNT DE MONET : June 6th, 2011-05:26
to me. At the end of the day it is not a limited watch, not a small production number piece and for a place like London a quite affordable piece a lot of people. If I would see a 5131 in a window, thaaaan I would be surpriced and lucky! Regards Moritz Thi...

This is a great post from ticktocktimesup! So true! Oversupply of 5960 is just ridiculous. This can be seen with the great availability at ADs and also on the internet. I have a 5960 with grey dial. I was surprised to see that 5960 is still widely availab...

 By: christoffer : June 11th, 2011-01:35
I live in london and have a stroll once a week too all shops and second hand agents and i concur, 5960 everywhere. Also noted lately that nautilus crono and annual calendare are in abundant supply.

5960

Patek im sure has read this interesting post. We hope that Patek takes corrective action to reduce the supply of 5960. Discontinuing the grey dial version will surely help.
