which patek?
I would go for the PP5130 bec it is very simply a stunning watch. The 5146 just doesn't have the presence in my view. If u are minded for the 5396 I wold settle for the new model 5396 and not the one with the sector dial. Why? Bec tof its classic looks and very much like the limited edition Wempe T125. The clear dial is just pleasing to the eye. Just my two cents worth!.

I currently have 5711/A as my daily beater and a 5970G as of my rarely wear peice, looking to get a daily dressy watch for regular business meeting. I have been comparing 5396G (sector dial) or a 5130G (world time) or perphas a 5146G. My budget is limited...
5146

I love the 5146 as a daily wearer. My daily watch is a 5146P-perfect balance --look and feel for everyday wear. Although I just got a 5960P and it will get some of that wrist time--although mostly weekend time! Go for the 5146--you won't regret it.

I just like it the best. It's also the one that will require the least resetting if you don't wear it for a few days and it stops. Also you've got a perpetual calendar, so I'd get a new complication instead of the annual. A
For Daily Business

For daily business a date function, in my opinion, is a must. That narrows it to the 5396 and the 5196. For a new watch your closer with your budget with the 5196....and in a preowned scenario either one can be found with some patients. I would look for t...
5130, without dout!
By: amanico : July 28th, 2010-23:02
Among all those you mentionned, the 5130 offers a friendly complication, and most important, the PP WT is the Queen of all the WTs! Well, to be honest, I am totally biased and sold to the Patek World Time, being 5110 or 5130. It is such a polyvalent watch...
Ok, now I get it, Robert.

Same in Europe, but what I noticed is that for a very few weeks ( maybe 2 or 3 ) during these changes of time, there is a delay between Europe and US. So, there is a difference of one hour for 2 or 3 weeks, only. Except that, this is exactly the same betw...
5146G or 5130G

I find it hard to justify the extra cost of the 5396 over 5146 as "technically" they are the same. The 5130 is beautifully finished but will you use the WT function often? Please post a wrist shot after you make your decision.
Richard Lange

The world doesn't belong exclusively to Patek Philippe. If you;re looking for a discrete dressy daily wearer in white metal this could be a really good choice. And you should not forget the iconic Lange 1. The movements and finishing are impeccable and ea...

If it has to be PP
By: Le Chef : July 31st, 2010-08:10
Then the 5146G or P. The dial is better balanced than the "Clarence the cross-eyed lion" look of the 5396 and is easier to read at a glance with the closer spacing of the day/month/date dials and window. The bezel on the 5396 is also going to be one of th...
5205 or 5196P?
By: roseman_a1 : July 31st, 2010-17:46
I have heard others say that the 5146 is sometimes a bit hard to read; the dial is a bit busy, and that is why PP is essentially replacing it with the 5205 and the new 5396. Have you thought about the 5205? Or perhaps the 5196P? the 5196P is PP's base pla...
