I currently have 5711/A as my daily beater and a 5970G as of my rarely wear peice, looking to get a daily dressy watch for regular business meeting. I have been comparing 5396G (sector dial) or a 5130G (world time) or perphas a 5146G. My budget is limited around 30K USD. Any other suggestions?
Thank you
I'm in the same kind of boat as you, The 5124 is certainly great for business settings. I never thought that I would go for a rectangular, but an open mind and slow to make a decision led to this model just looking better each time I thought about it. Awaiting delivery in August/September, but some AD's have it in stock. Good luck!
For daily business a date function, in my opinion, is a must. That narrows it to the 5396 and the 5196. For a new watch your closer with your budget with the 5196....and in a preowned scenario either one can be found with some patients.
I would look for the "good deal" for the 5146 and go for new if you could stretch that budget just a bit....maybe a loan from the wife....just tell her that its for life insurance (her as the benificary) or something like that.

maybe I am not very good explains it......sorry
that are within my budget but only own the 5146/1G as I much prefer one on bracelet.
I would have gotten the 5130G no doubt if there is a way to fit the bracelet onto it.
I think you should go for the 5130G too since you already have a Perpetual.

usually when I put on a watch, I would know right away which one is the right one. But not this time.
thank you for all the great feedbacks. will let you guys know which one I have decided.
But I think that you would also have to consider, when looking at the two AC's which one you can read more easily.
I would go for the PP5130 bec it is very simply a stunning watch. The 5146 just doesn't have the presence in my view. If u are minded for the 5396 I wold settle for the new model 5396 and not the one with the sector dial. Why? Bec tof its classic looks and very much like the limited edition Wempe T125. The clear dial is just pleasing to the eye. Just my two cents worth!.

when I tried the 5396 at the AD, it already has (some) hair line scratches around the bazel and a tiny dint. I don't know where are the scratch come from but I will assume they are from people trying on and taking off. And of course they still consider it brand new since is not sold yet. Just like a demo car, brand new with some mileages. I don't blame them since it has been on the display for a long time. Even though i am not a 5396 owner, but I would have to agree with you 5396 is a scartch magnet.
