What is your favorite “modern era” Patek Philippe? For me, without the slightest hesitation, it is the 5970… in any metal.

I personally consider the modern era to be approximately 1986 to today. Why do I feel that way? With the discontinuation of of 3448/3450 and 2499 (watches whose functions could not be quick set) and the introduction of 3940 and 3970 (both of which are quick set), owning and occasionally wearing a complicated watch became much more user friendly …. modern , one might say. But please use any definition you like. Some say anything more than 25 years old is vintage. Some say the 5970 is neo vintage. The 5970 for me is a perfect watch and simply put when it is on my wrist I get a different feeling and higher level of happiness than any other modern watch I have ever owned or tried on, including 5004 which is rarer and much more complicated. I look forward to reading and seeing your thoughts and images. Best, Patekova

The 5970 remains my favorite watch of any time period. In any of its iterations, including the “standard” ones . . . ...

What an impressive collection... Variations of a masterpiece.

Amazing piece....Of the modern era I would have to agree with you

They are all great and special. I never got one though and feel I missed the boat by now. The G was the one that was my personal pref.

Yes, I believe you’re right.

That suits my Scandinavian temper. Under the radar and subtle is, for us, the most elegant luxury. But also a bit boring sometimes. BTW. I would also mention my grail, 5950a but the price is so out of this world that it’s only in my far off dreams.

Your two 5970s are impressive!

I really know too little about Patek to answer your question properly, but a model I like a lot is the 5231. Is it the best modern PP? I really can't tell! (web photos) ...

Oh, I personally like the G as it is!

Not a bad choice at all!

Another model I like and wasn't mentioned by anybody I think, is the regulator 5235.

Probably not the best modern Patek, but one I really like both front and back. ...

I recently met someone, who told me - he want to have only a 5 watch collection ;-)

As Patek has many different styles and designs that are very appealing and special. If we are able to attain and enjoy what we desire then we are blessed. Here are a couple of my preferences, alas I’m unable to share others in my collection at the moment,...

Here’s a sneak peak of one…

The 5970 is just about perfect. I would also include the 5074 (PC with MR in the 5070 case). Here are my personal favourites ...

Thank you!

Hard to argue with 5970.

It’s a beautiful watch and historic significance. Patek catalogue is so rich and deep that an argument can be about so many models. Yours are certainly at the top of the conversation. Beautiful.

5970p works!

Hi Patekova, your 5970 duo look so

DELICIOUS 😋! Yes, with the lemania movement, 5970 in any metal has a vintage feel and a more balanced dial IMO vs the 5270s. Have you ever gone double-wristed with your 5970s ?😃

5960P for me, without a doubt 👍🏼 it's simply a very special, useful and beautiful reference

I'm not a huge fan of the 5970. Too busy for me and due to the small movement the subdials move too far into the center imho. For me the 3970 and the first 5270G without tachymeter scale are the winners in this modern PC-Chronograph competition. But hey, ...

Certainly understandable to me why some prefer 3970 and 5270. Also that some would not like 5970 for the reasons you state. Thank you for sharing

 By: patekova : September 29th, 2024-15:51
a different viewpoint. 😊 5960P has so much going for it. If I were to opt for one to own it would be the black dial

My favorite at the moment is the

5102 Celestial. Dont have one, hence photo sadly isnt my watch (though it is on my wrist ). I prefer it to the later 6102, though I like them both, especially in white metals. ...
