What does /1 after a model number indicate? Does it mean metal braclet?

I am curious what the /1 after a model number indicates.

I thought it meant bracelet ?

The above link is for a very rare World Time which is on a leather strap but is a /1 model reference.

While this Tiffany-signed 2523/1 is a very special watch – one of just nine examples of this reference known and the only Tiffany retailed piece.....

Today, I'm pretty sure the extra "/1" in a reference is used by Patek exclusively to indicate the presence of a metal bracelet.

Things might have been different in the '60, however; in fact, I believe ref. 2523/1 did originally come with a strap, as it appears today, similarly to ref. 2523.
