Well done on two counts!
Firstly for spotting that the watch was a fake and secondly for being so discreet and diplomatic with its owner. If I was wearing a fake Patek, I would feel most apprehensive at showing the watch to someone wearing a Patek for fear that my secret would be revealed. Many would wear a fake Patek but I think the worst thing here is not wearing a fake Patek but lying about how he acquired the watch!
