I must agree the chevron buckle does not feel very safe. The "mushroom" shaped pin which goes through the holes in the strap is too short to hold the strap securely, and the "snap" when closing the buckle is not very reassuring. I am being very careful to ensure the buckle is tightly closed when putting the watch on my wrist.
It's interesting to note the chevron buckle is fitted to the "prototype" 5235 Regulator watches... I wonder if it has benefited from being redesigned to improve it?

Hard to find the "Chevron" style buckle for the deployant these days. I'm glad you were able to find it as it's no longer being produced (only the circular model with the Calatrava Cross is in production now). Happy Bday to your watch.
