Patek Philippe

Hi, Any feedback would be much appreciated. I have heard that Patek will be discontinue the 5074, is it true? How rare and collectible is this model, in particular if Patek decided to stop production. Have a friend who is considering buying this, 5074R in... 

..... let me see ?! Perpetual calendar, minute repeater with cathedral gong, is it rare ?? is it collectable ?? I am thinking ..... nah ! We see pieces lying around in every AD , everyday .... right ??

.....but I guess what he likes to know is how many of these exceptional timepieces are out there. And how important this will become once it is discontinued in production. He is thinking yes, it might be discontinued, but, another model with the same move... 

Kaylen, nobody knows how many are out there. It's probably a low number, but nobody knows. Your friend may want to know everything about the watch before he invests the sizeable amount of money. Sorry, he's not gonna get the production numbers. I imagine ... 

....because he is avery reserved person, and like to confide and ask friends for feedback. Not so keen on social media and forum.. Thank you for your comments Patrick. I end up bought the 424 & 425,can't decide, but love both. Hanging out for the 448 ... 

If I had 400k usd to spend on this timepiece, I'd probably be not too much worried :-)

your friend is not really interested in that watch, is he? If he can really afford it and is in LOVE, he should go for it. If he can only afford it, he should leave it for somebody who really is in LOVE. Oliver

have no problem in getting the watch. Anything can be bought if you throw enough money at it. Is it rare and collectible? At that price point, there appears to be an abundance of super complicated pieces readily available. Discontinued, as has been demons...

I am certainly envious, as I suspect many others on the forum are, of someone to be in a position to acquire such an expensive piece. I did not intend for my remarks to be abrasive, and I apologize if they were perceived that way. But, my point was any pi... 

The reference is rare largely due to the price, seems PP has many repetition minutes references in production and production is not the problem, rather demand. Air is thin at that price point.m
