When I referred to the status, I referred about the horological status of Patek Philippe as a brand and Nautilus as a model, not as a statussymbole. I didn't count with the vintage hype, I just compared the two - uncomparable! - models of the actual production!
If I only compare - the uncomparable! - movements of the two watches, maybe you will agree with my point of view: the Sub is a very good, massive watch and the Nauti is a queen!

I would not be " impacted " by others' watches. If I like a watch, I like it. Seeing it on others' wrist ill not change my feelings on my watch. But it is just me... Best, Nicolas

The nautilus is very popular and worn because it is an icon just like the Royal Oak. For this reason people love it and buy it and we can definitely say that it is not a rare watch, especially nowadays.

In fact, even If I don't have actual figures, knowing each brands overall output ant what we know of Rolex and Patek, the number of Nautilus is much much lower than the number of Submariners. No real comparison here I think. hence, it won't be as seen out...
Nautilus is first class all the way. The Subs are a notch lower , still a great watch. But less refined.
