I would not be " impacted " by others' watches. If I like a watch, I like it. Seeing it on others' wrist ill not change my feelings on my watch. But it is just me... Best, Nicolas

I think submariner is a sport and leisure watch and nautilus is a sporty dress watch .So no the Nautilus is not the new submariner. Personally i wear my daily beater an IWC chrono and when on the beach I use a $ 250 Seiko Padi divers watch. Some pics adde...  

However, for me, the submariner(like almost all the Rolex models) is on another level in terms of popularity. The Submariner is too inflated, you see it on the wrist of many people in just one day. This has spoiled Rolex's reputation among enthusiasts bec... 

many Rolex Subs, Gmt.'s, new or even vintage models, Cokes, Pepsis and so on. I didn't see too often a Nautilus, it is not common like the Rolex sporties. Anyway, I also wear what I like, and don't influence me what the others wear! Yours, Adam

....it looks like around 50% of all recent posts on the PP forum are for Nautilus. It is a very very popular watch

but no doubt 5960 and Nauti rule the PP forum time to bring back 5070 and 5131!

.....the Submariner is probably the most produced watch in the world....it is way higher in production than Nautilus. That is never in doubt. However, nor is it in doubt that within Patek, the Nautilus has become perhaps the most posted watch and most own...

In fact, even If I don't have actual figures, knowing each brands overall output ant what we know of Rolex and Patek, the number of Nautilus is much much lower than the number of Submariners. No real comparison here I think. hence, it won't be as seen out...

So at least the question did spark a bit of discussion. Good thing is, that I brought neither my Nauti nor any Rolex... As this was sort of implied in my original post by many - I never bought a watch because of the people that own it or do not own it. No...

and what Baron was expanding on. Sure I guess an argument could be made that the popularity of the Nautilus makes it analogous to the popularity of the Sub. On watch forums and IG, you definitely will see a plethora of Nautilus just like a lot of posts ab...

Though, that I have not seen a single Aquanaut of any kind, but I do really enjoy my time off. If there is none, positioning to not work out fully as planned for PP... will keep looking.

the status of a Nauti, never ever. It is a high-volumed production mass-watch, and costs a fourth or fifth of the Nautilus - if I do not calculate with the vintage exotic models... It is a popular cult watch, but it is not so refined as a Nautilus, you co... 

.....Status is a tricky concept. Some would argue that a 6200 Submariner is the epitome of vintage status and far above anything that a Nautilus could achieve. Its a very difficult subject when one talks status.....oone person's idea can differ a lot from... 

When I referred to the status, I referred about the horological status of Patek Philippe as a brand and Nautilus as a model, not as a statussymbole. I didn't count with the vintage hype, I just compared the two - uncomparable! - models of the actual produ... 

Movement and finishing of the Nautilus is way ahead of the Submariner. The Nautilus is a more high-end watch for sure....But is that the definitive arbiter? A modern Aston is far superior on most levels to a DB5, but is it right to say it is "superior". O...

In Bangkok, the hi-so (high society or rich kids) all wear the Nautilus as a sort of membership badge so you can walk into any rooftop bar in the Thong Lo district and see at least half a dozen PP Nautilus (sometimes at the same table!) on any night of th...
